WHY Telluride is the Perfect Vacation Spot

There is a popular myth that Telluride is the secret the utopia that Novelist Ayn Rand called "Galt's Gutch" but it was first the ancient Utes tribe that first declared it sacred as they referred to it then as "The Valley of Hanging Waterfalls". This cozy relaxing eden sits near the San Miguel River protected by glistening red granite of the San Juan mountains.

Picture the most relaxing year-round modern vacation spot that offers hot springs, golf, skiing, and terrain parks. Imagine the exciting sounds and sights as you go through Mountain Village and downtown Telluride's various hotels, lodges, diners, bars and shopping centers.

Though famous for skiing and snowboarding,Telluride also invites you to see her historical structures like quaint bakeries, local pubs which seems to blend with the most luxurious hotels and spas. If your idea of a vacation is no traffic and driving, this is YOUR place because there is never any traffic. The main transportation is free, which is called the gondola during summers and chondola during the merry winter months. These are basically like cable car stations which take you free from one place to another and every gandola or chondola.

Imagine cruising through white meadows and forests and taking pictures of the most amazing scenery and being a first hand witness to Telluride's rich mining history and ghost towns? The historic ghost town of Alta Lakes is a favorite of tourists afterwhich you can have the best lunch or meal at the Alta Lakes Observatory which is one of the strangest rock and wood cabins in the woods of Colorado. Go Winter fly fishing at the Uncompahgre and San Miguel Rivers-- don't worry about the gear, they're available THERE for you.

How does Night Ice skating sound? Plus feel and hear crackling fire that keeps you warm neath the stars and sky as you skate in the ice with other skaters in Telluride Town Park or Mountain Village. Get a feel of the warming hut and treat your feet with that special fireplace for your toes while you listen to music or watch other skaters under the night sky.

A horse enthusiast? Visit Telluride's favorite cowboy Roudy Roudebush at Telluride Horseback and if you love dogs instead, have an Alaskan Adventure by going on a sled dog trip. After all the activity, indulge yourself and grant your body a relaxing therapeutic dip at the Hot Springs of Ouray which is a Winter favorite. If you're a golfer, you can play golf at the Telluride Golf Club which sits 9300 feet above sea level and also take pleasure in the Alpine setting which goes with your sport.

Feel the comforting and soothing heat of the water cascade through every part of your body washing away all tension and relieving all your aches and pains. The Hot Springs of Ouray have the legendary reputation of being able to renew ones youth and vigor and heal some diseases.

A vacation to Telluride is a perfect vacation for you. Soon, you'll be night skating under the night sky looking at the stars and wondering why you didn't pack your bags earlier. Get the digital cam ready and "shoot" the fun memories you can take with you long after your vacation is over!

@Maven, hey long time no see... of course I am an Ayn Rand fan as always. This place is in Telluride Colorado.. this was where the FIRST electric post was lighted in the 1800s and it primarily is a place where different ski resorts are so it was a travel blog actually but couldn't help resist that trivia!

I'm an Ayn Rand fan and your title got me reading...Wasn't disappointed though...Excellent review of an area I am unfamiliar with...Sounds like a paradise on earth, much like my northern Arizona, though I don't think Galt would be welcome in Flagstaff, way too liberal...

Voted up and useful, thanks, Larry
