65The Secret and How it Makes Money
Before you THINK I am one of those obnoxious naysayers and negative thinkers, please read on. I wil tell you about THE SECRET and the FACT that most ebooks that REALLY sell and make a LOT of money on Clickbank are those that are "related" to The Secret and the Law of Attraction.
I have NOTHING against those who write ebooks about the Law of Attraction and The Secret. I believe that whatever we visualize does come true. I've tried it -- it works. What I want to tell you however is that THE SECRET was NOT an original book. There oughta be a law about re-writing old books and then repackaging them so that they're ready for endorsement!
In 1974, Shakti Gawain wrote a book called "CREATIVE VISUALIZATION". It have EVERYTHING and MORE than what THE SECRET contains. In fact, if you're intending to write a book of the Law of Attraction, I advise you FIRST to read this book.
Fact is that had it not been for Oprah's "endorsement", The Secret would not be a million dollar enterprise it is today. Leave it to Oprah to say something and it suddenly becomes "new". Really, The Secret is a passable book that was packaged well -- in fact there are many MORE motivational videos free that probably can help you than purchasing The Secret. There's movie mastermind on you tube-- great resource, really. I am also NOT about to recommend The Secret (but I am not Oprah, so I don't matter) because there is MORE of what is now known as the secret in Gawain's book. She came OUT with the IDEA FIRST! She just failed to "get" Oprah. Now,something about that isn't intellectually honest, is it?
It's just incredibly unfair that people who write books and do NOT get endorsed by Oprah do not get the credit they deserve. KNOW MORE ABOUT THE SECRET HERE and of course, how to make your EBOOK.

Oh yes, I forgot there was a The Secret movie.. Oprah endorsing anything is a sure hit.
I'm not sure how to answer this, there are many best sellers out there without Oprah's approval. I personally never look for Oprah's approval or the best sellers list. I personally choose a book by my interests.
In my opinion, there was a ton of marketing behind the secret, including a movie or documentary. Oprah's endorsement was the icing on the cake so to speak.
It's "bad" for writers to NEED Oprah to get a best seller!

Yes and it is better than The Secret, except that she didn't have Oprah! Isn't it kind of unfair for writers?

Finally getting over to check out your hubs. I read both books and you are so right. Shakti Gawain's book called "CREATIVE VISUALIZATION" came first and is still one of my all time favorites.
I learned this process from Shakti Gawain's book and continue to implement her methods in my life today.

you are right...I was not able to read "The secret"... I only read a few pages of it and didn't like it that much.
Then I was in a bookstore and I saw that old book "Creative
Visualization" ...it was much better!
