Hubpages Comments Should Probably Not Be Anonymous
After the New Year, I resolved to be good. By good, I mean ignoring all fruitckaes (they do add up to the calories) and wishing the human race well. My friend informed me that his email is now filled with creepy messages about something I wrote in Hubpages about knitting --- yes, it's the Starsky Sweater knit pattern -- and I can only say that since hubpages does allow anonymous comments, then this person who calls himself Ian-whatever SHOULD probably find out who wrote the comment under the anonymous handle UNIMPRESSED WITH IAN.
There was NOTHING in the hubpages article that this Ian (supposedly his name) should be upset with. But he was and still is SO UPSET after I "allowed" a comment by someone called UNIMPRESSED WITH IAN. Of course, I could look up the ISP but I believe in the First Amendment.
Now this is his response to UNIMPRESSED WITH IAN :

I have never emailed with you or spoken to you in any way. I looked back at emails going to 2004, and there is not one email between you and I.
So, why would you publicly write lies about me below?
I have never said anything bad against David Soul. As a matter of fact, he has signed my Gran Torino. I know many people who have met him, and had nothing but good things to say.
You claim I made negative comments about him, can you send me some copies of these comments? I would like to see it.
I think someone in internet-land has made some comments using my name, and you should have checked with me directly first.
I answered your complaint about me on your blog. I would like you to read it and reply to it for your followers. I put my email address there for anyone to comment to me directly, but no one has.
I appreciate your being a fan of David Soul and starsky and Hutch. I am also a fan. Speaking with their managers, the 2 actors are not really into the S&H personas any more, they have moved on, but as long as the fans are out there, the spirit of the show continues.
I wish you nothing bad, only good, and hope we can clear this up.

Why I allowed Uimpressed by Ian to comment is because I think that there is some truth to what this person has said. I have no idea why Ian is so upset about a simple knit pattern however and neither am I responsible for comments on my Hubpages. He refers to the comment criticizing overpriced sweaters og kints which obviously also has nothing to do with the article.
Now, Ian, to file a legal case(let me help you THERE) you have to have a whole name and you should have copyright to whatever thing (what are you selling?) that you're complaining about. You should also make sure that you have the proper legal person to file a suit against. Do you own the Starsky and Hutch franchise?
Please also take NOTE that there was NOTHING in the article that referred to YOUR PERSON. I was talking about a knit similar to Starsky's sweater. I do not also care if you're referring to Paul Michael Glaser or Ben STiller and NEITHER do I frankly care if there's a difference between Glaser and Stiller's sweaters. It doesn't matter. After all, Ben Stiller is the latest to have played the role and the sweater he is wearing is none of our business.
Perhaps you can ask hubpages to disclose the identity of UNIMPRESSED WITH IAN or the IP number because I will not do it. I protect the rights of those who comment on my blog and I agree with her/him. I also do not know whoever Maryanne is (another of the comments I got) but I think she did make pretty good sweaters. I know you asked that your email be indicated to protect your name BUT I won't do it.
I think that there are so many millions of men and even women named Ian, so do NOT attack those who comment on my hubpages because you aren't the only Ian in the planet and I do NOT allow last names which is why I deleted your comment.

Squidoo is the same kind of site. I also recommend doing the same thing over there. One of the VPs at Hubpages has said that a link on a hub is 3x more powerful than a link on a Squidoo lens...not sure how true that is, but that's what they claim.
hahahaa! Hubpages is great so please post another knitting pattern this time about the real starsky sweater here. I am not buying a knitted sweater for more than 200 US Ian, and most won't too.
To the readers of Cynthia;s blog,
Below is what was written about me. To be honest, debugs, I thought that YOU WROTE THAT ABOUT ME. Now, I can see, that YOU DID NOT. Some other crackpot out there in lala land wrote it. Probably some scam artist who wanted me to give him or her a sweater for free, because they had a good sob story. The way the hubpage appeared and because it was the first comment, I thought you wrote it. I went back over 7 years of emails, from which I never got one from you, and, I checked my records and I have never sold a sweater to the Phillipines. I think your country is on the banned-list due to terrorist activity, but thats just a guess. So, if your followers want to read the lies that are posted about me, then the text is below. If you feel you have to protect the identity of the person who wrote it, well that's your decision, however, the right thing to do would be to email me their contact info, in confidence, after all, they are accusing me of being a 1) liar, 2) thief, 3) con man, 4) criminal. I'm not sure how things work in your country, but here in North America we have the right to face our accusers. As far as your legal and copyright comments are concerned, I have no idea what you are referring to. I have several pictures of PMG and DS on my site, as well as sound files from the S&H show, and I've never been ordered to remove them or received any legal action against me. However, I do know some people that it has happened to. I believe SONY now owns the rights to Starsky and Hutch, and they have many many lawyers.

Ian R.,
Been to your site several times, and even though I am an accomplished knitter in my own right, I actually considered buying one of your overpriced cheep imitation didn't get the pattern right sweaters....
Exact copy my ass! Anyone with eyes can tell there are several things wrong with the pattern on your sweater!
Since your rude, unnecessary and totally uncalled for comments above about David Soul, you won't get my business. And I will tell everyone I told about your site to check out the comment you just made on this site. I'm sure EVERY ONE of them will decide not to order from you now.
How dare you! How f*cking dare you make those comments about Mr. Soul! Who the Hell do you think you are?! Your nothing more than a cocky SOB!
You really think you are the only one who can make a Starsky Sweater, or rather whoever you got making them for you?
Think again, I now have a pattern of my own that a good friend (who is a better knitter than I am) made from pictures of PMG wearing it, and am currently working on it right now. AND WE GOT THE PATTERN RIGHT!
And you know what, I plan on supplying the pattern to anyone who wants/asks me for it free of charge. I'm not a greedy SOB like you! Speaking for myself, I'd rather spend $500 dollars on yarn and countless hours of knitting to make one myself, then spend one dollar on one of yours. And I'm sure more people will feel the same way once they see what you so rudely said on this site.
A generous spirit and kindness radiates throught out this hub........I feel blessed to have been mentioned.
Your tips are simple and straight forward, very clear and concise. You have captured the essence of comarader
